Rollapaluza Outreach offer a fun, engaging, gateway into cycling for young people and disadvantaged adults.
Rollapaluza aims to promote cycling as a means of transport, a healthy leisure activity and sport to as many people as possible including non-cyclists and people who do not currently participate in physical activity or exercise. There are currenlty over 50 Rollapaluza school events annually in the UK
Rollapaluza Outreach CIC was set up in 2010 with the goal of increasing Rollapaluza’s cycling advocacy work and to introduce as many people as possible to a healthier lifestyle through cycling.
All our staff are experienced and enthusiastic team members who love cycling and Rollapaluza and are keen to share their knowledge and create the fantastic atmosphere which Rollapaluza is famous for.
A Rollapaluza event involves, two participants racing sprint distances on static bikes, in front of classmates or spectators who are encouraged to support their fellow students or colleagues to the sounds of current pop music and an MC. Each participant is given coaching and advice and all receive a time-card with their time and speed. Results and photos of all riders are delivered to the school or displayed on a password protected web-page. At school events the fastest riders receive medals.
Rollapaluza school events also have relevance to maths and science classes through the mechanics of our equipment, the bicycles themselves and through the data that we provide, time, speed and cadence. We also hope to offer power measurement in 2011.
